Signs of Ovulation
Ovulation is the natural process in which the mature egg is released from the ovaries and it sets up the stage for fertilization. It is the time when the egg is fertilized and it would lead to pregnancy. For most healthy women, ovulation generally happens once a month, a few weeks after menstruation begins. Ovulation commonly happens at the 12th to 16th day after the first period and it will only last for 2 to 3 days because after that menstruation cycle will start. Cervical mucus change
The first and most common change that most women notice is the change in the color and consistency of the cervical mucus.
- The cervical mucus will be clear and slimy just like the egg white.
- The concentration of the mucus changes to assure that the sperm will easily flow through the reproductive organs of the body and reach the egg safely.
- The best ovulation test is that you look for spots. Chances are you will find white or light brown/yellow spots on your trousers during ovulation cycle.
Lower abdominal pain
There are many women who experience pain in the lower abdominal region. It might not be common but it is the biggest sign that it is the time of ovulation. The pain will be in the lower abdominal and pelvic region. It is a mild pain which means it is not as sharp as the pain of menstruation. There are regular intervals at which you will experience the pain. Some women feel the pain at night and others will experience during the day time. It will be a slight numbing sensation.
Libido changes
One of the biggest ovulation symptoms is the change in the libido. Libido colloquially known as sex drive, is a person’s overall sexual drive or desire for sexual activity. There are many women who experience the change in their sexual drive during the time of their ovulation. They would like to have sex. Their body temperature will increase, and in some women, the sense of smell is improved as well. It is a natural mechanism that all women have to undergo during ovulation.
