Ingredients

Cupcake base

  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 /3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/3 tsp baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp baking soda
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 40 ml whole milk
  • 40 ml vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp beaten egg
  • 1/3 tsp vanilla extract
  • 40 ml boiling water

Decor

  • 12 pieces Oreo cookies cut in half to make 24 “bat wings”
  • 1/4 cup melting chocolate
  • 24 pieces candy eyes

Instructions

Baking cupcakes

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 12-cup mini muffin pan with liners.
  • Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  • In another bowl, whisk egg, milk, oil, and vanilla, then stir into dry mixture; add boiling water and mix until smooth.
  • Fill liners 2/3 full, bake 8–10 minutes, and cool completely before decorating.

Decorating cupcakes

  • Twist open Oreos, remove filling, and cut each cookie half into wings.
  • Melt chocolate and transfer to a piping bag.
  • Pipe chocolate on each cupcake side and press Oreo halves in place as wings.
  • Pipe two chocolate dots in the center and attach edible candy eyes.
